“We occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of us pick ourselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.” -Winston Churchill
Digital Porcupine was born out of a personal interest for investing in great ideas and people, combined with a lifelong passion for education, writing & active discourse. The purpose of the musings at DigitalPorcupine.com reflect Poleeko’s (a boontling pen name) personal opinions and experiences encountered in his quest for financial independence and with the hope of generating hearty, rich discussions and respectful, thoughtful experience shares amongst readers and friends.
Growing up in relative poverty and having to bootstrap and scramble to learn the investing habits of the affluent, Poleeko realized as an executive and entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, that smart, creative individuals and leaders are not always exposed to basic investing tenets, the fundamentals of financial statements, or the power of compounding and creating wealth through alternative means than a J-O-B, or an hourly wage. He adopted the Gestalt method of “experience sharing” the basics of his methods for investing in stocks and real estate; and quickly discovered the personal and communal rewards of helping others to accelerate their own financial education and freedom by simply sharing many of the basic lessons some of us are not taught as children.
Poleeko has a formal higher education in business and international finance in both the US and Switzerland, as well as 25+ years of experience starting at Price Waterhouse and including executive positions in public and private high tech, biotech and startups in Silicon Valley. He now invests full-time in no more than a dozen well researched public companies, primarily SaaS companies. His investment philosophy has led to returns that have beaten the average of the major indexes many times over the past decade. For just the past three years, since January 2017, his returns have exceeded 10x the average of those market indexes. He embraces lifelong learning and change and strives to learn something from everyone he encounters; and to give some of that knowledge back when he has it to offer.
Poleeko lives part-time in Silicon Valley and spends his free time as a grateful & proud father of two wonderful teenagers; as an apple farmer of 1200 trees in Northern California; an investor; and learning and sharing as a professional parapatetic!
“If you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right!” -Henry Ford
